I had a good feeling so I called, fully anticipating that the class would be full. To my surprise there was room so …. decision made. I am not much a girl for “signs” but I had to see this as one. I quickly gathered the supply list. Noted what I needed and off I went.
I was not disappointed! Not only was the teacher a wonderful artist but a warm inspiration too. Samantha was open and forthcoming and so excited to share with us. The class was an intimate group of 8 with an array of different background in art. It was nothing less of awesome. We all watched the same technique demonstration but yet all came out with such different results in our own work of the day.
I have not stopped painting since the class. The ideas of what I want to do next are endlessly bubbling out of me. Samantha daSilva struck a match and created a wee fire in me that I so desperately needed. I’ve been painting for a bit here and there but have been longing to do abstract work for a while. For some reason I find abstract harder to capture. What is in my brain never seems to translate on canvas how I want. This class let that loose.
Here is my creation from the workshop. A huge shout out to Samantha for a job well done! I thoroughly enjoyed the class, the other participants and The Paint Shop staff were awesome as well. I certainly hope to see her return to Edmonton for further workshops.
