Newly finished addition to the pack. It's been a long time since I've finished a representational piece. It feels great. I can never get sick of flower pieces.
_ My studio space (AKA: dining room area minus the dining table or anything dining room like) is in disarray. In typical Jennifer scatter brained fashion I have multiple projects happening at once in multiple stages. I get bored easily and tend to be a bit inpatient, though I hate to admit the later.
This is something new I started tonight. It’s still wet but I couldn’t resist. I’m loving the color combo and how it is mixing so far.
_ Winter hit us hard today in Edmonton. The first few real inches of snow, horrible road conditions and forgetful drivers. It was one of those days where you head home and feel like staying there with an ample supply of hot chocolate until spring thaw. It’s not realistic but you feel it all the same.
Such a gloomy day needed a little reminder of something a little prettier. I finished this abstract sunset on the day of our first snow of this season. In preparation for the long Alberta winter a head. Keep warm and drive safe everyone!
_ It is easy to get stuck. Finding a technique that you really enjoy or like the end result is easy to fall back on. Our styles as artists are based on techniques that we like or feel that work but we should never forget to try something new.
Add a new move.
Keep things interesting.
Discover something we did not know we could do.
Keep our minds open.
The piece is one of those for me. A little different from any of my previous work but holds a punch that I’ve grown to like. I finished it weeks ago but needed some time to let it sink in before finally deciding to post it.
_ I recently had surgery and had to take some time off work (my day job that is!). I went in with the best of intentions that I would feel okay after a few days and be able to use the rest of my leave to read and paint and be productive some how. I was wrong….. really really wrong! Healing time was needed. Lots of sleeping, resting and laying horizontal, while not being able to focus much on reading through my drugged stupor.
I am back to work and feeling much better. It feels nice to not be in laid up and back to a routine. I missed painting. I lost my momentum in the off time. I streamlined my painting space and am ready to refocus back to my creative work.
Here is a new little guy I have been working on.
Thanks for visiting my blog. Welcome to my creative journey.
